TY PENNINGTON AND THE “EXTREME MAKEOVER:HOME EDITION” TEAM COME KNOCKING ON THE DOOR OF THE BEACH FAMILY!
Congratulations to the Beach family getting brand new home!
Houston, TX Bay Area (January 7, 2010) – Ty Pennington and the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition television crew paid an unexpected visit to Larry and Melissa Beach and their 13 children this morning as they pulled into their driveway at 1013 Delesandri Lane in Kemah (Galveston, County) TX to deliver the exciting news. The Beach family was ecstatic to learn that they were the recipients of a brand new home to be completed and move–in ready in seven days. The show will air in March.
Extreme Blood Drive
On January 14th the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center will be in the parking lot of the Kemah Visitor’s Center at 603 Bradford in Kemah. The Houston Bay Area is up to the challenge of beating any previous blood donation records associated with EM:HE and encourages everyone to come out and give the gift of life. Additional blood drives will be held at the following locations:
Monday, January 11th City of Dickinson at 4403 Hwy 3 from 8:00am-6:00pm.
Wednesday, January 13th Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership University of Houston – Clear Lake Delta Building 2700 Bay Area Blvd. from 8:00am-6:00pm.

Extreme Food Drive
Also, Interfaith Caring Ministries will be on hand, at the Kemah Visitor’s Center at 603 Bradford in Kemah, collecting non–perishable items for a food drive Jan. 9 – 14 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Items needed: Canned meat, spaghetti sauce, tomato sauce, cookies, juices, toilet paper, sanitary napkins, toothpaste, size 5 diapers, and baby wipes.
About the Family
The home will be completed in 106 hours by a team of vendors and volunteers lead by Blu Shields Construction, and will be designed to fit the needs of the Beach family. In 23 years of marriage, Larry, 40 and Melissa, 40; have fostered over 85 children that other adoption agencies were not able to place. They have four biological children and nine adopted children. They include Chris (23,), Michael (21), Jose (20), Mikala (18), Paul (14), Faith (13), Hope (9), Justin (8), Jacob (4), Grace (4), Jeremiah (23 months), Mercy (22 months) and Cody (19) currently serving in the Marine Corps in Afghanistan. During the last 12 years, they have fostered approximately 85 children, but decided to start adopting after seeing that so many were not being placed in homes.
Due to water damage from Hurricane Ike, the Beach family home is unlivable and they are residing in a travel trailer on their property. Therefore, they have been unable to adopt additional children. But all that is about to change!!

I am so thrilled that The Beach Family was selected! I’ve known their son Chris for a short time but have heard their story thru mutual friends. They absolutely deserve this wonderful blessing! I am a long time fan of the show and always wanted to volunteer. I wasn’t selected to do so this time but I am so blessed to know that my friend and his family are receiving this amazing gift!

Their son, Michael (age 21) is one of our outstanding students at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. He is a remarkable young man; the love that he and his family have with each other and for others is amazing. They are truly genuine humans. I just read the story and was talking to a co-worker @ NASA about it. She had met the Beach family two years ago, around Christmas time before Hurricane Ike. She stood in line with them at Baybrook Mall to get their pictures taken with Santa Claus. She remembers the whole family well and even helped feed one of the babies while in-line. Sounds like a desrving family.
This is such a blessing! The beach family really needs this and have been praying for this for a while now. I love each and every one of them, they are such a great family and great at heart! God bless everybody involed with this amazing gift!

YAY!!!! I was so hoping it was THE BEACH FAMILY!!! I remember a co-worker of mine e-mailed me about this family about a year ago and I was crying as I was reading about them and how they were living in the travel trailers. My heart just went out to them so I was one of the ones that nominated this family for the makeover!
I haven’t gotten my email yet about volunteering, but I am really hoping that they still need me. I love to volunteer and help out!!!!
Everytime I think of The Beach’s my eyes tear up and I get the goosebumps! They are going to be so blessed! I can’t think of a better family to receive that AWESOME gift than them! I don’t personally know them, but would love to meet them!
I am so happy for a fellow CenterPoint Employee! I have never personally met Larry or any of his wonderful family, but what a blessing! What a wonderful family selection in choosing the Beach’s! We went to church with them at FBC Magnolia for several years when their four boys were babies, preschoolers and elementary age. So many fond memories of the whole family remain with us still. Those little boys were so sweet and so much fun. Missy and Trey were always ready to help out with any need that came up. We lost touch with them when we moved to Alabama 10 years ago and recently found them on facebook where I heard, rather, read the news they were picked to receive this awesome gift! Congratulations Beach Family! My husband and I have faithfully watched the Extreme Home Makeover Show from show #1. We here in the Houston area are so fortunate to have been chosen for this second “build” in our community. The Beach family has made so many personal sacrifices to help children in desperate need of love and care it is only fitting that when their family is in need members of the community are stepping in to help them. ABC has done the “right thing” by making this program the success it has become and all the professionals who have made their own sacrifices by participating are to be ulitmately praised for without their generosity none of this would happen. Keep up the great work ABC and all the volunteers!
I found out today who the family was,sounds like a family who needed a new home for all the wonderfull things they are doing for the children.I have lived in the Kema area for 12 years i volunteered to help in any way. I hope i get my E-MAIL soon.
I have had the joy of knowing the Beach family for about 5 years, not only the immediate family but the exstended family, parents, siblings etc…. Celebrating Thxgiving with them a few years ago was such an incredible exsperiance- to see ALL come together to give THX and to provide for so many. This all began with example set by the parents and exstended family (everyone is involved in ministry somehow, somewhere) just one example is Larry’s sister is a missionary in Mali West Africa- the whole family’s life is about serving others, now the Beaches are reaping far more than they have sowed but thanks to God and Extreme Makeover their lives and the lives of many young people will be changed forever- what a testimony of giving back to others.
I am so excited about this deserving family getting this grand opportunity! God blesses those that bless others and they have blessed so many lives with their love and kindness. I am trying hard ot get out there and volunteer my time – give back a little. Hope they get back with me soon!

Thanks to Extreme Makeover, and all of the volunteers in the community pulling together for the Beach family. We have known Michael (21) for several years and he has been a good friend to our son and our whole family. Michael is also a member of our young adult bible study group called C-YAA’s (Christian Young Adults in Action), and exemplifies Christ’s calling to be the salt of the earth and a light to the world. On behalf of the C-YAA’s and our family, I’d like to offer hope and prayers that this event will be a catalyst for so many other blessings on a family who truly gives, and the crews and volunteers that are being blessed in their giving.

I work for a company who is donating services to this project. It is an awesome feeling to have the opportunity to lend a helping hand to someone in need. When the employees were given the opportunity to volunteer, I was more than happy to do it. I saw the demolition of the original house and my heart sank when it went down…but it also made me feel good to see that it was a start to something new…
I also went Monday and worked a 6 hour shift. It gave me great pleasure to help the contractors build something so wonderful.
To the Beach Family…there is so much love in the Kemah and surrounding communities…it will all be seen on national televison…
